About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Import–Export Compliance Officer to ensure that all international shipments meet regulatory and company standards. This role is crucial in maintaining smooth cross-border operations while ensuring compliance with UK and international import/export laws, including DEFRA, FSA, and customs regulations.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of international trade compliance, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with UK import/export regulations, including DEFRA, FSA, and customs requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and manage all import/export documentation.
  • Monitor shipments to ensure adherence to legal, quality, and safety standards.
  • Liaise with freight forwarders, customs authorities, and internal teams to resolve compliance issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of all international trade activities.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in trade regulations, tariffs, and licensing requirements.
  • Support internal audits and provide guidance to trading and supply chain teams on compliance matters.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline import/export operations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in import/export compliance, trade documentation, or international logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of UK and EU trade regulations, including food safety compliance (DEFRA, FSA).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Proficient in digital tools and ERP/logistics systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or related field preferred.
